Alaska and Northwest Trip - Day 17

Our second day in Vancouver!  We took an organized tour to Victoria as an add-on to our cruise.  Our bus driver was entertaining and knowledgeable, but the weather was a bit crappy.  We took the ferry over to Victoria, which is an experience in and of itself.  I don't understand how someone could live their life with a ferry ride every day, but some people do.  The highlight of the tour was The Butchart Gardens.  That's where all of the pictures are from.  We also saw downtown Victoria and the Empress Hotel on the waterfront.  It's a beautiful old hotel, with a famous high tea.  We decided not to do it as a result of time.  We were lucky to get back home since a bunch of the ferrys were cancelled due to weather.

I would definetely make a point of seeing the gardens if you're in the area.  They make sure to use seasonal flowers so that it is in bloom year round.  The food was good in the restaurants and the staff were very helpful.  They even provide umbrellas!
