Peaks - Palm Springs, CA

This restaurant is at the top of the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway.  The park, rotating view tramway, and restaurant were all awesome.  I remember really enjoying the Olive Tapanede/Bruschetta combo, and then the rest of the meal descended into the nightmare of a shrieking child.  Not a crying child, not a hurt child, a child who shrieked shrilly, at the top of his/her lungs, at random intervals, completely ruining our meal.  At no point did the parents make any attempt to quiet the child or remove it from the restaurant.

I've always hated parents who feel it is okay to bring their child to any damn restaurant they want too, inflicting the child on all others.  There are some restaurants where I accept that children will be at: IHOP, Chili's, even Olive Garden.  Even there the parents should make an attempt to ensure their child is not a disruption.  Children do not belong in nicer restaurants.  There were plenty of child friendly venues right f'en next door!

I apologize to the Peaks Restaurant.  The food was good, but I remember no details beyond the awful, awful child.  There is no excuse for the parents behavior, and I do not blame the restaurant.

Visit the Tramway and eat at the restaurant - unless you have young children.
