Arrived in Fairbanks, Alaska after a trying day at the airports. Day 1 to Seattle was so easy and trouble-free that we got lulled into a false sense of security. It's not that the day was awful, there was just a lot of waiting in line and inconveniences with Alaska Airlines.
Yesterday we had no lines, free TV on the flight (watched the incredible Michigan - Notre Dame game live on the flight!) and no luggage charges. Today, we had Alaska Airlines machines that wouldn't take credit cards for the luggage fees, a huge line for customer service to pay for our luggage (though I gave the kiosk a fourth try and got out of that line - thank God!) then the security line was long and slow (we of course picked the slowest line - Murphy's Law of lines.) I guess flying on the 10th anniversary of 9/11 was not the best idea.
My new favorite pet peeve is paying for meals on flights. Not a big fan of this. I do like the credit card swipers for on flight charges. For those who haven't flown in a while, they don't take cash anymore on Delta and Alaska!
Excited for tomorrow and our first day wandering the streets of Fairbanks with the in-laws!
